Convallaria majalis is a herbaceous geophyte that prefers nutrient-poor soils. It grows in deciduous forests with Quercus, Betula and Fraxinus spp. and in woodland (Klotz et al. 2002, Online Atlas of the British and Irish Flora 2012).
